Foreword

in any healthy society, irresponsible use of drugs can never be encouraged or condoned. Virtually every physician has had an opportunity to observe personally the damage, destruction, and despair drug abuse can cause.

The full scope of the subject, including both legal and illegal substances, has rarely been viewed objectively or presented openly. Lacking facts, the public for the most part

has had little choice except to choose sides emotionally, damning all drugs as the panacea of hell or praising them as manna, from heaven. Recreational Drugs does neither. It is written so people can clearly understand what most commonly used and abused drugs are about, providing readers with truth in place of misinformation and fable.

Although drug research is still in its infancy, and much remains to be learned in the months and years ahead, I have reviewed Recreational Drugs for medical accuracy and find it

a thorough reflection of current knowledge in this vital area. I believe it provides a wealth of valuable information for interested lay people and professionals alike.
