Our Origins
DrugText.org has a long and unusual history.
Founded in 1996, DrugText began as one of the earliest online archives documenting harm-reduction research, drug policy analysis, and scientific information about illicit substances. At a time when honest information about drugs was scarce—and often distorted by stigma—DrugText became a refuge for transparency. Our mission was to give the public clear, factual, and accessible insights to reduce harm when institutions weren’t providing them.
